How/when were you introduced to Marc : I was about 12 AND hitting puberty, girls were interesting and I needed a soundtrack for life. I had begun listening to the Beatles music since I was 6 OR 7 but everything had become so boring and samey I was too busy riding my new chopper bike... I HAD HEARD "HOT LOVE" ON THE RADIO AND I BEGAN TO LOVE THE MELODY NOT KNOWING WHO THE BAND WAS. THEN ONE NIGHT ON T.O.T.P. I SAW HIM PERFORM AND I FELT CHANGED OVERNIGHT. I COULDN'T GET ENOUGH MUSIC OR INFO ON THIS MAN/WOMAN IDOL. I inhaled his aura, music, anything I could read or hear. It was never enough, in the UK at that time the only outlet we had was T.O.T.P once a week. So every thursday night at 7.30 I was there glued to the telly for 3 minutes of breathless excitement. It seemed everyone was crazy for Marc... And then they weren't, my friends moved on to Bowie, Ferry, Etc, the progs. Liked Yes and Genesis, I loved Bolan and that was it...and still is. Sure there are songs that I don't like or albums that I will never listen to ... but Marc Bolan will remain a special part of my life and I am so happy to have found othere people on the list who feel the same way...you either get it or you don't..

My first experience on the web (and the reason I hooked up) was solely to try to track down recordings that I had lost - my old Marc Bolan record collection. It means a lot to me that this site exists. I too have been there since the beginning (I believed for years that I might have been the ONLY T.Rex fan, at that).
When I was a young teenager, my hometown in Maine had a small boutique - otherwise known as a "Head Shop" (because it sold pot pipes/ posters / incense etc...) - it also sold "cut-out" albums, for a very low price. One day I bought a a double album set "Prophets, Seers, Sages combined with Unicorn", and it quickly became my favorite; I was learning to play guitar at the time and everything about it floored me. Everyone else hated it (not uncommon, I guess).
Some years after that, my entire record collection was taken by a vengeful girlfriend (who hated the albums) - it was then I discovered what "out-of-print" truly meant. About this time I started using the new format - CD's, and began a quest to retreive ALL of my old collection. I also discovered that I had "missed" some releases such as Zinc Alloy.../Futuristic Dragon/ Bolan's Zip Gun/Dandy...

I'd like to think that it goes without saying that my motivation is probably the same as everyone else's: the music changed my life and heals me even now when things aren't right. I live in the mountains of North Carolina and just yesterday morning I was driving to work at 5:00am with a full moon shining through the mist over the mountaintops - "Unicorn" chanting over the car's sound system. Does it get better than this ????

WHEN/WHY I GOT INTO MARC I have been a T.Rex fan since I was 9. The first single I ever bought was Metal Guru. The reason I became such a fan was because Marc Bolan was unique - I had never seen anyone like him before. He was so beautiful and the T.Rex singles were so exciting - it was impossible not to get caught up in the wave of adulation that swept the UK in 1971/1972. Almost everyone I knew loved Marc and T.Rex. I first saw T.Rex in concert when I was 11 at Newcastle City Hall on 21st January 1974 - the Zinc Alloy tour. I was fortunate enough to see T.Rex again on 2 other occasions - Sunderland Empire Theatre in February 1976 and at Newcastle City Hall on 10th March 1977.
OTHER HOBBIES I play guitar and shout (you can't really call it singing) in a punk tribute band called Zombie Punk Squad - hence the e.mail address! We are all in our late 30's and fast approaching 40 - we play songs by the Sex Pistols, Clash, Buzzcocks, Damned, Only Ones, Ramones, Ruts and even T.REX (a very fast and powerful version of 20th Century Boy).
I used to be a professional musician many years ago - in a band called Darkness and Jive - we had 2 John Peel sessions and released a few singles. We recorded an album but it never got released due to legal wranglings with our record company and my manager (Don Arden). Music has always been the major influence in my life. I also spend quite a bit of time teaching my daughters how to shop - they are fast becoming experts at it !!

I've been a fan of Marc's since 1971 (I was 13 then), but growing up in California there were so few people that even knew of T.Rex outside of 'Bang a Gong', so I really had no one to share my T.Rextasy with, but regardless of that Marc Bolan remained my favorite.
Today thanks to the internet I can finally have friends that love T.Rex as much as I do, so I'm exited about being with Till Dawn.

I never saw a show, except on TV...... I got a decent collection of magazine articles from both sides of the pond... got original RegalZonophone Tyran lps.. you know the drill
I've met Tony briefly at a Leslie West Concert in the early '90's..... I met and spent time with BPFallon through a good friend in NYC.....Lonnie Jordan of WAR who played on some TeenAgeDream sessions... he had some fun stories... moslty about being loaded with Marc.... I met a BBC camerman who's Dad shot the 'Ride a White Swan' film clip...... he helped his Dad out that day and swears that Marc had a needle in his arm for most of it.... diabetic?.....
I actually had a T.Rex cover band in process in NYC for about 2 years on and off...... never played out tho, but some of the tapes have fooled some into thinking they were bootlegs or something...... we just could not keep a drummer..
...... I recall in HighSchool being the ONLY T.Rex fan...... same in college...same throughout life so far.... 'til now.......er, 'Til Dawn.
My wife, Sue, and I visited London a few years ago we only got to the offices..... missed the tree by a bit...... there may be a next time.
